Atletico Madrid’s CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin has urged boss Diego Simeone to continue their dream partnership by signing a new deal.
The Argentine tactician put pen to paper on a two-year extension last September, keeping him in Madrid until the summer of 2020. However, the club are reportedly concerned the ex-central midfielder could walk away at the end of next season, believing he is still keen to return to his homeland to be closer to his family.
Marin says Simeone has been a ‘blessing’ for Atletico, guiding them to a La liga title, two Europa Leagues and two Champions League finals during his seven years at the helm.

The Atleti CEO does not want to see the successful partnership end and believes it would be in the best interest of all involved if Simeone were to sign fresh terms.
“It would be best for all parties if he were to renew the deal,’ Marin told Cuban outlet Juventud Rebelde, as cited by Diario AS.
“It is tough to meet a match which leads to long-term results but this is what we have tried to do, even if this is extremely difficult in a sporting sense.
“Simeone has the remainder of this season and the entirety of the next one and we want this to be extended further, it is simple.
“I was the individual who brought him to the club, as I do with virtually all of our employees and it was one of my best decisions.”
