Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has been ruled out for around two weeks with a hamstring injury.
The former France international was forced off with the problem at half-time of Real’s shock 1-0 defeat to Alaves in La Liga on Saturday, a result that extended the club’s winless and goalless run in all competitions to four matches.
Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui confirmed after the game that both Benzema and Gareth Bale had sustained injuries and the club have now revealed that the former is suffering from a hamstring issue which would typically keep a player out for around two weeks.
‘Following tests carried out today on our player Karim Benzema by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with an injury to his right hamstring,’ read a Madrid statement.

All being well Benzema should return for Real’s La Liga clash with Levante at the Bernabeu after the international break, although if there are any complications with the injury then he could become a doubt for the first Classico of the season against Barcelona the following week.
