“The best memory I have of my time there is lifting the La Liga trophy with Tito. It was also my last game for the club, when I was able to bring my cousin into the middle of the pitch” explained Abidal.
The former Barca man was more than happy to talk about his experiences with the club. The ‘Clasicos’ were particularly special to him: “Those games were always different. The 6-2 was a great result, but what I remember most is the team spirit.”
Abidal also talked about the lifting the Champions League with Carles Puyol: “he told me to take the captain’s armband, he said that I deserved it. I talked about it with my team-mates and with the manager and they all agreed” he said.
Finally, the former player spoke about his illness. “When they diagnosed me I told my team-mates that it wasn’t serious. I first has to recover before I could return to the pitch” he concluded.
