Nigeria on Friday night forced Corsica to a 1-1 draw in a friendly played at the Stade Francois Coty, Ajaccio, France.
The Super Eagles, captained by Elderson Echiejile, after a goal down salvaged the situation in the 80th minute through Manchester City starlet, Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored through a penalty kick.
Oghenekaro Etebo was brought down in the box for the penalty, which was converted by West Ham United-bound Iheanacho.
Corsica shot ahead in the early minutes through Mandrichi who beat Ikechukwu Ezenwa through a spot kick as well after referee Hamel Johan had ruled that Tyronne Ebuehi’s hands touched the ball in the box.
Henry Onyekuru had in the eighth minute missed a seater when he couldn’t finish a pass from Ahmed Musa with the goalkeeper at his mercy.
Akwa United forward, Ibrahim Alhassan’s header in the 24th minute sailed over the bar from close range after a lovely delivery by Echiejile.
Also, Musa in the 35th minute missed from close range after Alhassan’s effort was spilled by the Corsica goalkeeper.
Tyronne Ebuehi eventually made his debut for Nigeria as he made the starting line up before he was replaced in the 68th minute with Shehu Abdullahi, while MFM boy, Sikiru Olatunbosun also came on to replace Ahmed Musa in the 62nd minute.
NPFL leading scorer with 14 goals, MFM’s Stephen Odey had earlier been introduced in the 58th minute in place of Akwa United forward, Alhassan.
