NIGERIA’S Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has said he will be studying and learning as he acts as a TV pundit at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon with a view to improving the Super Eagles.
The competition started on Saturday without Nigeria but Rohr claims that will not diminish his interest.
“I would have loved to see the Super Eagles there but I hope to see many things there that will help me as a coach in improving my own team. As a pundit, you see quite a lot of things the tension in the technical area will not allow you to see. I have a bit of experience of being here and it is really a nice place to be.”
Rohr also said it would be hard to pick eventual winners because there are about five strong teams at the tournament.
“We can only wait till the end. A lot of good teams, about five of them had good preparations but the good thing about this tournament is that the countries brought in coaches and managers who are really experienced having been to the tournament on more than one occasion.”
Meanwhile, Rohr foresees a strong showing from hosts, Gabon.
“Gabon will do well not just because the are the host; Burkina Faso is also strong because they have been able to maintain a stable side. Most of the names on their players’ list are some who played under me during my time there, ‘’ noted Rohr.
