England striker also says she was nervous about telling him she was expecting their second baby – and gave him the news on FaceTime while he was at Euro 2016.
JAMIE VARDY claims he gets death threats every week – and pregnant wife Becky is still targeted by “hurtful, offensive” Twitter abuse.
Leicester’s England striker says he tries to protect her after she was accused of being a ‘gold digger’.
He told this week’s OK! magazine: “I tell her to ignore it. I get death threats every week on Twitter, people will always try and put you down.”
The couple have suffered regular online abuse since the Foxes’ surprise Premier League title triumph in May.
And Becky said: “People who didn’t know me portrayed me as a gold digger. It was offensive and hurtful to begin with.”
She said she thought the ex-Fleetwood Town star was an ‘annoying drunk idiot’ when she first met him – but relented after he kept pestering her for a date.
Becky revealed she was worried about telling Jamie she was expecting their second baby – and told him the news on FaceTime in June during Euro 2016.
Jamie, 29, said: “She was so nervous about telling me as it was a bit sooner than we planned, but we’re both very happy. We’ll have a five-a-side team!’”
Becky, 34, said of her pregnancy: “It was definitely a surprise, but a good surprise.”
As well as their daughter Sofia, Becky has two children – Megan, 11, and Taylor, six. Jamie also has a daughter, Ella, six.
He married Becky at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire in May – but made a far worse impression on their first encounter.
Becky said: “I was working in events and marketing, so I organised Jamie’s birthday party and I thought he was an annoying drunk idiot.”
She joked: “I was hoping I wouldn’t see him again.”
Jamie admitted: ‘I kept messaging her, asking her to meet me, but she was having none of it.
“But I was persistent and eventually she did.”
Rebekak feels she was a ‘complete bitch’ early into her five months of pregnancy.
She was prescribed anti-sickness tablets and said: “I was struggling to get out of bed.
” just wanted to sleep all day. At times I wanted to smash up everything, scream and cry – it was my hormones.
“I was a complete bitch – Jamie isn’t used to me like that.”
Last year Jamie fell out with his mum Lisa, dad Phil and maternal grandparents over his relationship with Becky.
And Becky exclusively told the Sun two months ago she suffered years of abuse from a family friend as a teenager – feeling dirty and ashamed, and twice trying to kill herself.
