MONACO wonderkid Kylian Mbappe was left in awe this week after getting the opportunity to meet one of world football’s living legends, Roma club icon Francesco Totti.
Mbappe has been the talk of the game recently following his mercurial performances for Monaco in the Champions League, scoring in each round of European football’s elite competition.
But the Frenchman turned from wonderkid to besotted fan this week after being able to spend time with Serie A superstar Totti.
The pair came face to face while watching the tennis at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, with Mbappe keen to get a picture with the revered football star.
Taking to social media Mbappe posted an image of himself with Totti onto his personal Instagram page.
Sharing the snap with his 534,000 followers, Mbappe can be seen flashing a beaming smile with his arm around the Roma talisman.
Captioning the image, Mbappe simply wrote: ‘En direct avec la légende Totti / With the legend Totti.’
A quite incredible 22-years separates the two players, with Totti still going strong in Serie A for his hometown team.
To offer some context between the age gap of the two stars, when Mbappe was born Totti had already racked up 150 matches for Roma and had established himself as one of Europe’s leading young talents.
That mantle now belongs to Mbappe, who is set to come face to face with more Italians soon when Monaco face Juventus in the Champions League semi-finals.
The two sides were drawn against each other on Friday, with the first leg set to be played in France on Wednesday, May 3.
Should Mbappe be able to inspire Monaco to progress once again, and make their first European final since 2004, either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid will await them.
The two Madrid rivals will do battle in the competition’s other semi-final, producing what is a replay of last season’s final in Milan.
