Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are forced to understand each other. After Conte informed the player in a rather unconventional way that he will not continue at the Bridge, the battle has begun.
Chelsea directives are not at all content with the Italian manager’s decision, and the striker’s market value has been considerably decreased since it came to light.
Simeone’s side, who refuse to pay more than 30 million euros for the Spain international, had been interested in securing the move for some time.
Chelsea wanted over 50 million euros for Costa, a fee Atletico will not meet, especially after Conte put him on the market in such a way.
Atletico plan to sign the player in January 2018, once their transfer ban is lifted. The Blues would not be able to inscribe the striker in the Champions League, so that Atletico Madrid can make use of the player in the competition after January 2018.
Spanish program ‘Deportes Cuatro’ have assured that Diego Costa is prepared to wait for his former club, for whom he has professed his adoration in the past. According to the same source, he would even be willing to see his salary decreased in order to play for Simeone once again.
Atletico and Chelsea will have to reach an understanding. In the meantime, Costa’s future is looking closer to Spain every day.
