BAFANA Bafana goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, says Nigeria have themselves to blame for the 2-0 home loss to his side in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification tie in Uyo on Saturday.
Khune told Le Foot on Sunday that Nigerians lost focus prior to the game.
‘The Nigerians took us for granted. I don’t mean the players, I am talking of the people. We have quite a number of them living in South Africa talking about a World Cup qualifier against Cameroon which is still weeks away while we stay focussed for the Saturday’s game.’’
He added that that some of better-known Nigerians were not ready for the match thinking it was already concluded.
“I don’t know what was going on in their mind but nobody should be telling his Federation he was too busy because he had just finished playing for his club in Europe when in the same weekend Ronaldo and Messi were with their countries.”
Khune however, insisted the Super Eagles were the team to beat in the group.
“The reverse fixture will be tougher on us, Nigeria will raid us in full strength but we shall be ready for them.’’
