TEAM Nigeria to the 16th Union of African Karate Federation (UFAK) Zone Three U-21 championship which ended last Sunday in Cotonou, Benin Republic returned with seven medals.
In a press statement signed and made available to newsmen by the media aide to the President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) God’spower Ede, the country’s karate team made up of four boys and two girls clinched two gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the championship.
The statement said that the Nigerian’s participation at the championship was made possible after four years of absence as a result
of pragmatic steps taken by the new leadership of KFN led by Honourable Silas Ali Agara despite short notice.
The statement added that seven referees and four technical officials also partook in the technical coaching and referees/judges course and examination.
The athletes to the Cotonou 2017 according to the statement were Ujunwa Nwankwo, Oluwaseun Olorunmbe, Blessing James, Ebube Okpara and Abdulazeez Bashir.
The referees to the championship were Ayodeji Idowu, Iskilu Dauda, Olusegun Abode, Ismail Omiteru, Salisu Ibrahim, Bolaji Sidiq and
Suleiman Bakare while the technical crew were made up of Micklem Emecheta, Shola Shoyeye Sunaka, Kingsley Enyie and David Jegede.
