Arsenal have in their ranks the third most creative player in the Champions League as Mesut Ozil’s assist tally is bettered only by superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ozil picked up his third assist in six Champions League games this season when found Alex Iwobi in the box for Arsenal’s fourth goal against Basel on Tuesday night.
The Arsenal winger has made a name for himself as the assist king of the Premier League and although he has switched gears this season slightly to scoring more goals than creating them, he is killing it on Europe’s stage.
Ozil has been providing goals and after goals for his teammates at various clubs since making his debut in 2007 with Schalke.
The German international has bagged 23 assists in just under ten years playing in the Champions League.
His total in that time period is just one behind Barcelona’s Messi and three behind Real’s Ronaldo.
Ozil’s total is made even more amazing by the fact he will have played a considerable less amount of games than his rivals having spent a few seasons playing in the Europa League with Werder Bremen.
Amazing from Ozil!
