Should Kylian Mbappe make the move to the Bernabeu this summer, it will not doubt be a complicated deal. However, there is one detail that the 18-year-old needn’t worry about, with reports in Spain claiming that Real have already assigned him a squad number.
Spanish publication ‘OKDiario’ reports that the teen sensation will wear the ’19’ shirt if he completes his move the the Spanish capital, with the number having only recently come available following Luka Modric’s move to ’10’.
The striker is, for now, still a Monaco player, though Real are so optimistic of a deal that they are already starting to make arrangements vis-a-vis squad numbers etc.
Modric’s move to ’10’ following James Rodriguez’s loan move to Bayern Munich has left ’19’ free and it is understood that it is this number that the Frenchman will have emblazoned across his back if he joins Zinedine Zidane’s side this summer.
The France international wore ’29’ during his debut season with Monaco, though he has moved to ’10’ this season. At other points in his career the youngster has also worn ’11’ and ’12’.
However, the latter three numbers have already been assigned to other members of Zinedine Zidanes side this season, meaning that Mbappe would have to make do with what is left and from that selection it seems that ’19’ is the magic number.
Should the deal go through, it would appear that Real Madrid’s ’19’ shirt may literally have Mbappe’s name written all over it.
