ARRANGEMENTS are in the pipeline by the South West Football Forum to organise an Odua Football event just as it is sourcing for funds in order to strengthen the forum financially.
The South West Forum is made up of states football association chairmen from Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Lagos and Ekiti.
At the meeting of the forum held in Lagos recently, the chairmen of Lagos and Ekiti Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi and Otunba Ajayi respectively briefed the meeting of happenings at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as well as their activities as representatives of NFF.
In a chat with Tribunesport after the meeting, the chairman, Lagos State Football Association, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi said that the forum, apart from its proposed Odua Football event, which is still in the early stage,the forum discussed on how to implement the youth development plans rolled out by the NFF youth development committee and how to empower more of those of south west extraction in various spheres of football.
Akinwunmi said,”we are also planning an enlarged south west forum meeting comprising all those from South West who hold any football office as well as selected stakeholders and elders to a meeting where isdues that will make football great in the zone will be discussed,” he said.
He thus informed that they will need to consult far and wide in order to have a successful forum adding that they hope to haveball the South West governor’s involved been major players in football matters in the land.
