Nigeria manager, Gernot Rohr has said that the inclusion of Odion Ighalo, in the 24-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Seychelles next month, will provide the striker to prove his critics wrong.
Ighalo’s recall to the Super Eagles came on the heels of his ‘unpardonable’ misses at the just-ended 2018 World Cup in Russia, leaving him to be in the bad books of many die-hard soccer fans in the country.
Ighalo last scored for the Eagles a year ago against Cameroon in Uyo in a World Cup qualifier, and his misses against Argentina in a crucial group game at Russia 2018 have failed to endear him to the fans.
“This is an opportunity for Ighalo to prove his critics wrong,” Rohr explained.
“He has been scoring in China and he is very motivated to do so for the Super Eagles now.”

On Sunday, the former Watford striker scored his 16th goal in the Chinese Super League.
Ighalo was the hero of Changchun Yatai after he scored the equaliser to make sure they didn’t lose at home to Hebei CFFC in a game which ended 2-2.
The former Udinese forward put smiles on the faces of Changchun Yatai fans as he scored in the 89th minute to bring the score to 2-2.
It will be recalled that Ighalo scored 15 goals for Changchun Yatai last season.
