Jack Wilshere left White Hart Lane on crutches and with his left foot in a protective boot after the Arsenal loanee suffered an injury against Tottenham on Saturday.
The 25-year-old offered no comment as he left through the mixed zone following Bournemouth’s 0-4 loss and got into the back of a black Mercedes.
Tottenham’s supporters taunted the midfielder throughout. When he went down injured in the second half, they sang: “It’s happened again, it’s happened again, Jack Wilshere, it’s happened again.”
Wilshere suffered the blow while trying to block a shot from Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
It remains to be seen how serious the injury is to Wilshere, who is on a season-long loan at Bournemouth.
If long term, he would return to Arsenal for treatment and likely have his loan terminated – as is common practice among Premier League clubs.
Eddie Howe claimed in his post-match press conference that he had not spoken to Wilshere, whose future is uncertain. His Arsenal contract expires at the end of next season and talks over an extension have not opened yet.
Bournemouth agreed to pay a £2million loan fee and also took on his £80,000-per-week wages in full. He had appeared 27 times in the Premier League for the South Coast club this season.
