Kano Pillars defender, Chinedu Udoji has said he is quite calm ahead of today’s match day 12 Nigeria Professional Football League clash with Enyimba, saying he won’t celebrate if he scores against his former team.
The Pyramid City side host the six-time Nigerian league champions at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, today and Udoji said he will only act as a true professional during the clash with the People’s Elephant.
“The clash against Enyimba holds a special feeling for me, I captained, spent years as well as won trophies with Enyimba.
“Enyimba did not treat me badly, in fact without Enyimba nobody would have known Chinedu Udoji.
“However, I am now a player of Kano Pillars and will dutifully defend their colours and honours to get three points against Enyimba.
“This is one encounter that I have been keenly looking forward to in the ongoing top-flight.
“People are trying to weave unnecessary interest around the match but I have refused to be swayed as I see the game as nothing special.
“If I score in the encounter I pray to be in charge of my emotion as I will not want to celebrate the goal.
“I’m calm, relax and looking forward to matchday and I pray we come out victorious.
“Of course, the clash will be tough considering the existing rivalry between the sides.
“Enyimba I know their character once they drew a match then you expect the hardest and best performance from them.
“We have done our homework well to be able to snatch the whole three points at stake,” Udoji told Supersport.com.
Kano Pillars are eighth on the log with 14 points with two matches at hand against Wikki Tourists and reigning NPFL champions, Enugu Rangers.
