Not fewer than 1,000 athletes have so far completed about 44 different sporting events at the ongoing annual federal education sector games ‘FEDUGAM’ in Bauchi.
The deputy chairman of the main organising committee of the competition tagged ‘FEDUGAM’, Olapade Suleiman stated this while briefing Sports Journalists at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stadium, Bauchi.
Olapade Suleiman said, the athletes who are from various agencies under federal ministry of education, participated in 13 different sports, including football, handball, basketball, scrabble, chess, badminton tennis, athletics among others.
He explained that the aim of organizing the tournament was to bring unity, friendship and synergy among staff of various participating agencies of the federal ministry of education.
Olapade appreciated the smooth running of the games and thanked government and people of Bauchi state for their hospitality to the visiting contingents of the agencies.
Earlier in his address, FEDUGAM consultant, Chief Okeyinka Matthew said, the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman felicitated the hosting of the FEDUGAM fourth edition in Bauchi, and the state government willingly accept the idea.
Okeyinka, who described this year’s edition as fruitful with about 14 agencies in attendance, promised to upgrade the next event for the better.
The consultant encourage all agencies to go back and start preparation for the next event to be hosted by yet to decide state of the federal.
Okeyinka, thanked Bauchi state government, JAMB, NUC and UBEC for their financial support, and urged other agencies to encourage the annual sector games for the unity and development of the country.
