No fewer than 120 golfers across the country are expected at the one-day golf tournament in honour of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) Patron, Major General AB Omozoje scheduled to take place this weekend.
Omozoje is the current General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Div, Nigerian Army, Odogbo Cantonment, Ibadan.
Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC), Brigadier General Edward Lot, who is also the vice captain of and the aim is to celebrate the GOC and to further cement civil-military cooperation through golf.
“Due to time constraint and the COVID-19 regulations, we have decided to make it an invitational tournament so as to follow the guidelines of COVID-19 as prescribed by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), hopefully by next year when the restrictions have been ease on the pandemic, we will make it an open tournament to accommodate more players. We are expecting no fewer than 120 golfers in this tournament.”

“This is maiden edition and coincidentally concise with the GOC birthday, so we want to make it as elaborated as possible and give him a befitting tournament to celebrate him for the achievement that he has recorded so far.
“We are expecting not less than 120 golfers to participate in the maiden edition of this tournament,” he said.
Also, secretary for the tournament, Tunde Akande Esq, said all arrangements are in place to make the tournament a memorable one.
The cocktail party is scheduled for today while the tee-off ceremony would take place tomorrow by 6:30am as well as the closing ceremony scheduled to start from 5:30pm.
