… as Nimrod expresses commitment to produce world-class coaches
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, has restated the commitment of his board to continue the development of coaches in order to attain world-class standards in beach volleyball.
Nimrod, who was speaking at the closing of a five-day intensive Olympic Solidarity Beach Volleyball Coaching Course for Nigerian coaches which held from 4th to 8th November, 2025, and jointly organized by the NVBF, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), in Abuja, expressed optimism that before the end of his current tenure, one of the coaches would reach the global benchmark.
The NVBF boss described the course as a valuable opportunity for the coaches, as he commended the participants’ dedication and performance. He urged the participants to make good use of the course, saying coaching goes beyond earning certificates, while adding that productivity, experience and results are what define a good and successful coach.
“This is a unique environment where coaches can truly advance their skills. Opportunities like this are not easy to come by anywhere else in the world. This is just the beginning. We’ve planted a seed of excellence that must continue to grow. These coaches are our ambassadors, and through their work, Nigeria’s beach volleyball will continue to rise.
“You cannot simply sit back and call yourself a coach. Your output, contributions and mentorship of the next generation are what truly matter,” Nimrod said.
FIVB instructor and Olympic silver medalist, Javier Bosma, praised the participants and urged them to apply their new knowledge without delay.
A board member of the Federation, Chinedu Odozor-Onikeku, also charged the participants to impart the knowledge acquired to produce more world beaters for Nigeria.
“I am very proud of everyone involved. Having 25 participants and such strong engagement is truly remarkable. Some may have come here simply to learn or to experience something new, but our true objective is for them to go out there and produce champions.”
“Many states still lack proper beach volleyball courts. This program equips coaches with the technical know-how to train athletes effectively, even with limited resources.”
Out of the 25 participants, 19 coaches earned the prestigious FIVB certification, while all 25 received recognition from the NVBF for completing the programme.
