De Porters FC maintained their lead in Group A despite playing a 1-1 draw with Odion Ighalo FC in one of the games of the 1XBET Community Football Championship in the Epe Conference.
In the matchday 2 games, dubbed ‘Epe El-Classico’, De Porters FC and Odion Ighalo FC, gave good accounts of themselves in the tie.
Both sides gave a good account of themselves but it was the De Porters who took the lead in the first half as Odion Ighalo boys conceded an own goal off a freekick.
The Ighalo boys handled by former Julius Berger captain, Ambrose Duru levelled up in the second half through a sublime strike by Yusuf Fawaz, as both sides shared the spoils and moved to four points each, with De Porters leading the group on superior goals.
In the second game of the group, Perkins FC defeated Panthers FC 2-0 to record its first win and three points in the group to better their chance of moving ahead in the competition.
In Group B, Emperor FC defeated the whipping boys of the group, Ambassador FC 2-0, while De Elite FC jumped to the top of the table on six points, after another 2-0 victory over B.E. Arena FC.
Matches continue on Wednesday, matchday 3 at the same venue, as a battle for the sole ticket of the Epe Conference reaches the home stretch.
