20 teams set for Bet9ja Ekiti Football League

Twenty teams are expected to jostle for honour at the 2021/2022 Bet9ja Ekiti Football League scheduled to commence Wednesday at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.

Chairman, Ekiti Football Association, Mr Bayo Olalonge disclosed this to Sportingtribune on Monday.

He stated that the 20 teams which were drawn from amongst clubs in the state were divided into two groups, adding that the league will run for 14weeks non stop would end on July 22.

Olalonge said the league will attract N1million as prize money, as he stated that it is to encourage the participating teams.

According to him,  the winner would get N500,000 as the  second placed team will receive N300,000 and the third placed team would earn N200,000 for their effort.

He revealed that there would be individual awards which includes the Most Valuable player, Player of the week and Team of the week.

“The idea behind the league is to encourage healthy rivalry amongst clubs in the state and also to foster unity among them, just as it would also help in discovering talents that could be exposed to big clubs within the country.

“I wish to express our gratitude to the sponsor while I enjoin many others to assist in the sponsorship of more football competitions in the land,” he said.

Ekiti United FC, Ipoti Comets FC, llupeju Pillars, Golden FC, Adeyeye Adebowale FC, Lordswill FC and Fountain FC among others.

Meanwhile, the matches would be streamed live according to the Ekiti FA chief.
