Nigeria’s D’Tigress will tonight battle with 11-time champions, Senegal in the final group B game at the ongoing 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Mali.
The two-time African champions had on Tuesday secured their fourth consecutive win at Mali 2017 with a 106-33 demolition of Guinea who have lost all their games so far.
D’Tigress who reached another century of points on Tuesday after the 106-72 victory over Egypt rolled out Ezinne Kalu, Evelyn Akhator, Adaora Ulonu, Atone Nginyifa and Ndidi Madu on the starting line up.
The Sam Vincent-piloted side led in all the four quarters: 26-8, 22-4, 34-8 and 24-13, while Evelyn Akhator emerged the queen of the match after recording 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.
At the 2015 AfroBasket, D’Tigress who finished second in their group behind Angola defeated Senegal 75-64 in a group match as today’s clash provides title holders, Senegal an ample opportunity to avenge the defeat suffered in Cameroon two years ago.
Nigeria with +155 goals advantage lead the table as Senegal also with eight points but with +114 goal advantage place second, while a win by either sides tonight makes little or no difference as both sides have already qualified for the quarter-finals.
The finalists at Mali 2017 will represent Africa at the 2018 World Championships billed for Spain.
