Speaking ahead of the knockout clash, Ajayi praised the team’s strong start to the tournament and emphasised the positive atmosphere within the squad.

“It’s been good. A really good start for the group stages and now we’re looking forward to the knockout round,” Ajayi told Ademola Victor TV.

The Hull City defender highlighted the depth within the Nigerian squad, noting that several players were given opportunities during the victory against Uganda and rose to the occasion.

“Yeah, it’s really good. It shows the strength and depth that we have,” Ajayi, who scored Nigeria’s first goal at the ongoing AFCON against Tanzania, said.

“We were able to give some debuts to some new players and also some players who haven’t had minutes yet in this tournament and everyone did really well. It’s really good for the team.”

The 2023 AFCON silver medallist also spoke about his personal readiness for the crucial fixture against Mozambique, saying, “I feel great. I am really raring to go. I am looking forward to it.”
