New Chairman House of Representative Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has charged the Super Eagles to secure all maximum six points in their AFCON double-header qualifiers against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
The three-time continental champions, will on Friday, September 9, take on their Libyan counterparts in Match Day 3 of the qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo before a return leg in Libya on Tuesday next week in Benghazi.
Amadu, who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency of Zamfara State, said the Super Eagles possess the qualities to secure the needed wins in the two games calling on them to up the ante.
“I have no doubt that the boys will make us proud against Libya, especially going by the way they played in the last round of matches. I was impressed with what I saw them play against the Benin Republic in Uyo and even the performance against Rwanda in Kigali was also very good despite the draw.
“I am expecting them to step up that performance this Friday and continue from where they stopped in the last round of games. I also want the players to know that as lawmakers, the National Assembly is fully behind them and the Speaker of the House, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, is always rooting for them to make Nigerians proud,” the lawmaker stated.
Nigeria currently sits top of Group D with four points from two matches while Libya occupies the rear with one point.
