3SC seek govt support ahead NPFL campaign

The management of Shooting Stars Sports (3SC) of Ibadan has appealed to the Oyo State government to release funds for the team so as to sign more experienced and quality players.
Speaking at a press briefing held at 3SC Club House, Onireke, Ibadan on Friday, General Manager of the Oluyole Warriors, Mr Rasheed Balogun, said the management is working towards building a formidable team ahead of their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign.
Balogun said that the ‘bring him down’ syndrome in the state by critics needs to stop in order for the team to focus solely on the elite league campaign having spent four seasons in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
“We have learned a lesson and we cannot afford to make the mistake we made in the previous seasons. We are appealing to the state government to release funds for the team so as to compete favourably with the rest clubs in the NPFL.
“3SC is bigger than NNL and we want to thank our governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for his contribution towards our return to the elite league; but we want to move further by staying longer in NPFL and even compete at continental level.
“Getting funds will help us recruit better players that our fans will be proud of, and we promise to deliver our task once the NPFL season begins. Support from government and individuals both within and outside the country will go a long way in helping our team achieve its target in the Nigerian top-flight,” Balogun said.
Also, Team Manager of 3SC, Dimeji Lawal, disclosed that the Oluyole Warriors have disengaged with the services of two of their players, Mutiu Isiaka and Nura Mohammed as they wish them good luck in their future endeavours.
Meanwhile, head coach of 3SC, Edith Agoye, said the team is ready for the new season, saying fans should expect the best from the team in the NPFL.
“We are working on our new players as we don’t want to expose any of them because this is a transfer period. Our years at NNL taught us a lesson and we cannot afford to fail in our NPFL campaign,” Agoye, a former Esperance of Tunisia forward said.
