No fewer than 200 golfers across the country are expected to compete for honours at the 8th Seyi Makinde Women Support Pro-Invitational and Amateur Open Golf Championship.
The two-day tournament is scheduled for this weekend, October 13-15 at the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Onireke GRA, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Sponsor of the tournament, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde will tee off the tournament proper on Saturday.
The tournament is expected to bring together captains of industries and notable personalities to IGC as invited professionals are expected to play today while amateurs will have a practice round ahead of Saturday’s tee off.
A welcome party is expected to hold today at 7 pm while the tee-off ceremony is scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 a.m. daily with the closing ceremony scheduled for Sunday at 5 pm.
The Captain of IGC, Mr Tunji Oladosu, promised a hitch-free tournament saying all hands are on deck to make the tournament a memorable one, as he commended the Governor for his consistency in supporting and promoting golf in the country, especially in Oyo State.
He stated that the course are in good shape and promised participants a good round of game in the two-day tourney.
Also, initiator of the tournament, Mrs Ronke Adepetu, lauded the governor for making sure the tournament hold every year since 2015 even before he came into office.
“We will forever be grateful to Governor Makinde for making sure golfers across the country are competing every year here through this golf initiative and also encouraging women to embrace golf,” Adepetu said.
