Chelsea forward, Joao Pedro, has reacted after being left out of Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad by head coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
The Brazilian was omitted from the 26-man list unveiled on Monday despite playing a key role for Chelsea during a difficult campaign for the Premier League side.
Pedro had been widely considered one of the players pushing for a place in the squad, particularly after his attacking performances for the Blues throughout the season.
However, Ancelotti opted for other attacking options as Brazil prepares for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Reacting to the decision, the forward admitted his disappointment but said he remains focused on future opportunities with the national team.
“I endeavoured to perform at my best consistently. Regrettably, I could not realise my dream of representing my nation in a World Cup, but I remain composed and focused, as I always strive to be.
“Joy and frustration are integral to football. Moving forward, I wish the best of luck to all those participating, and I will be just another supporter cheering for them to bring home the sixth title.”
Ancelotti also addressed Pedro’s omission while speaking about players who missed out on selection.
He said, “I feel sorrow for players who have been excluded, such as João Pedro. They will have opportunities in the future.”
Pedro’s exclusion was one of the notable decisions in Brazil’s squad announcement, with several supporters expecting the Chelsea attacker to make the final list after showing consistency at the club level.
Brazil are chasing a record-extending sixth World Cup title and will begin their campaign in Group C against Morocco before facing Haiti and Scotland.
