Barcelona secured their fourth Champions League title in six seasons after Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo each scored twice in a second-half surge to defeat Lyon in the final in Oslo.

Pajor opened the scoring in the 55th minute when she latched on to a pass from Patri Guijarro and planted a low left-foot strike across Lyon goalkeeper Christiane Endler.

She doubled Barcelona’s lead 14 minutes later, tapping in from a cross delivered by Paralluelo.

Paralluelo then added a third in the 90th minute with a thunderous strike from outside the box before Pajor returned the favour in added time, setting up the winger for her second goal to complete a dominant win.

The result marked a return to the summit of European football for Barcelona after last season’s defeat by Arsenal in the final in Lisbon.

However, the match was not without early scares for the Spanish side. Inside 15 minutes, Lyon captain Wendie Renard forced a save from Cata Coll, with Lindsey Heaps turning in the rebound, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside after a video assistant referee review.

Endler also came off her line to deal with a through ball and watched Pajor lift an effort just wide, while Coll denied Selma Bacha’s free-kick and later made key saves from Vicki Becho and Tabitha Chawinga.

Pajor’s brace took her to 11 goals in the tournament, moving her past Arsenal’s Alessia Russo to finish as top scorer.

The final also carried an added narrative, with Lyon manager Jonatan Giraldez facing Barcelona, the club he previously led to European titles in 2023 and 2024, now under his former assistant Pere Romeu.

Attention now shifts to squad futures, with several senior players, including Alexia Putellas, Mapi Leon, Ona Batlle and Caroline Graham Hansen, approaching the end of their contracts.

Putellas received a standing ovation when substituted late on.

Barcelona have already secured a seventh consecutive Liga F title and lifted the Spanish Supercopa in January, along with the Copa de la Reina last weekend, completing a domestic quadruple alongside their European success.

Lyon, meanwhile, missed out on a record-extending ninth Champions League title and continues their wait to return to the top of European football after being taken over by Michele Kang in 2023.

Despite early pressure, the French side were ultimately punished by Barcelona’s second-half efficiency, as the Spanish champions underlined their dominance in Europe once again.
