Sporting director, Deco, believes Barcelona are only at the start of a new cycle after the club retained the La Liga title ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
Barcelona sealed the league crown earlier this month with three games remaining, continuing the progress made under coach Hansi Flick.
The club’s latest success has been driven largely by academy graduates, with players such as Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and Fermin Lopez becoming regular starters for the first team.
Deco said the squad’s age profile and mentality gave him confidence that Barcelona could continue winning major trophies in the coming years.
“It is true that we won two La Ligas, but these players want to win more; they believe that they can win more,” Deco told BBC Sport.
“That’s why it’s important, because if the players believe they can achieve more important things, you see, they still want to do something important.
“I believe that this team for me is the beginning of the era, the beginning of the history of this team because they are so young and still want to win something important.”
Barcelona’s title-winning campaign included an 11-match winning streak that helped them pull clear at the top of the table.
Although the club fell short in Europe after exiting the UEFA Champions League at the quarter-final stage, Deco believes the current squad already has enough quality to compete without a major rebuild.
He credited Flick for assembling a balanced side capable of sustaining success.
According to Deco, the German coach has built a team that would not require Barcelona to “go to the market for four to five players.”
Rashford’s impact
Deco also praised Marcus Rashford following the England forward’s loan spell from Manchester United.
Rashford played an important role during the campaign, despite not always starting matches.
One of his standout moments came in El Clásico, where he scored from a free-kick against Real Madrid.
“We knew he had these kinds of skills. I saw him scoring at United many times, but this goal was unbelievable. It was a fantastic goal,” Deco said.
The forward’s long-term future remains uncertain, though Barcelona are reportedly considering a permanent move.
Deco added: “Marcus has helped us a lot because he came on loan, it is not easy to come on loan as a player like him because he is a top player.
“He helped us a lot because he had the responsibility to replace Raphinha; it is not easy, but he did very well.
“Sometimes he [is] on the bench and it’s not easy, but he reacted very well, and he did everything.
“His season was very good, and we are happy he won La Liga with us. He deserves it, he works a lot and works hard to be here. We are happy with him.”
Rashford finished the season with eight league goals and seven assists in 32 appearances. He also contributed six goals and three assists in 11 Champions League matches.
