Team Nigeria at the African Taekwondo Championships in Mali, Bamako, has garnered a total of seven medals: three gold, one silver, and three bronze, including a gold medal in Para Taekwondo.
The remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, hard work, and resilience of the athletes, coaches, and support personnel who represented Nigeria with distinction on the continental stage.
The President of the Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria, Tayo Popoola, who expressed excitement over this superlative feat, congratulated the athletes, the board members and management of the Federation as well as the technical crew for their exceptional performance, which has once again demonstrated Nigeria’s growing strength in African taekwondo.

She also, in a WhatsApp chat with Sporting Tribune on Wednesday, expressed appreciation to the National Sports Commission (NSC), stakeholders, and supporters whose contributions played a significant role in the team’s success.
Popoola said, “This achievement serves as a motivation for the Federation, and we hope to build on this. This will be the first time in recent years that Taekwondo has it real good and I can assure that we on the board will not relent on our oars to do more.”
