Portugal forward, Goncalo Ramos, has revealed details of his halftime conversation with Cristiano Ronaldo during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ramos, who came off the bench to score the winning goal, said Ronaldo encouraged him to make an impact when called upon, while he responded with confidence that he would find the net.
“Ronaldo told me I was going to help. And I told him at halftime not to worry, that if I came on, I was going to score,” Ramos said, according to O Jogo.
Portugal booked their place in the Round of 16 after coming from behind to beat Croatia, with Ramos scoring the decisive goal in stoppage time.

Head coach, Roberto Martinez, named Ronaldo in the starting lineup, while Ramos began the match on the bench.
Martinez made his first change after 62 minutes, bringing on the new AC Milan striker for Joao Cancelo as Portugal searched for an equaliser after falling behind.
The tactical adjustment proved effective, with Portugal turning the game around after the substitutions.
Ronaldo and Ramos briefly played together before Martinez withdrew the veteran forward in the 81st minute.
Ramos then scored the winner deep into stoppage time, sending Portugal into the last 16, where they will face Spain.
