Ronaldo’s ex-coach to become new Portugal boss

Jorge Jesus is set to become the head coach of the Portugal national team, replacing Roberto Martinez, who took charge of the squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Martinez has since announced that he would be leaving the role at the end of his contract.

Jesus recently left Saudi Pro League side, Al Nassr, where he won the title with Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Journalist, Fabrizio Romano, wrote on X: “Jorge Jesus to become new Portugal head coach, here we go! He’s accepted to take over after Roberto Martínez.

“Jorge Jesus will lead the project for the Nations League, Euro 2028 and next World Cup.

“He’s won the Saudi Pro League title at Al Nassr this season with Cristiano.”
