Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele scored as France defeated Morocco 2-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Mbappe recovered from an earlier missed penalty to score his eighth goal of the tournament, while Dembele added a second as France proved too strong for their North African opponents.
The Real Madrid forward won a first-half penalty after being fouled by Morocco defender Noussair Mazraoui, but goalkeeper Yassine Bounou comfortably saved his spot-kick.
Mbappe made amends in the 60th minute with a curling effort from just inside the penalty area to give France the lead.
Dembele doubled the advantage six minutes later, driving at the Morocco defence before his low shot beat Bounou despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to the ball.

Mbappe’s goal took him level with Argentina captain Lionel Messi on eight goals at the tournament. However, the France forward now leads the Golden Boot race on the tiebreaker after registering more assists than the Argentine.
The goal also moved Mbappe to 20 career World Cup goals, just one behind Messi’s all-time record of 21.
France, champions in 1998 and 2018, will face either Spain or Belgium in the World Cup semi-finals in Dallas on Tuesday. They are aiming to return to the World Cup final after losing to Argentina on penalties in the 2022 decider.
