FIFA begins capacity-building programme for women football administrators in Nigeria

The three-day FIFA capacity-building programme for women football administrators in Nigeria, organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), will commence on Friday in Abuja and will be declared open by NFF Secretary General, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

Already, FIFA women’s football technical experts, Thubaelihle Sibanda and Tsholofelo Setlhoko, are in the nation’s capital as the country’s football governing body concluded preparations for hosting a very impactful programme.

Sporting Tribune reports that the FIFA-appointed resource persons will be joined by Nigeria’s Aisha Falode (Member of the NFF Executive Committee and Member, FIFA Media Committee, as well as a FIFA/CAF Match Commissioner); Professor Mariam Suleiman (Department of Human Kinetics & Health Education, Ahmadu Bello University); Dr Anthonia Uwa (physical education and sports administration expert, researcher and educator) and Mr Mohammed Ameenu (FIFA-trained technical instructor in refereeing and FIFA-certified safeguarding officer).

While Sibanda will speak on “FIFA’s Overview of Women’s Football Worldwide”, “Connecting and Exploring Leadership” and “Planning and Execution of Women’s Football Programmes”, Setlhoko will talk on “Team Leadership: Leading Others”, Professor Suleiman will present a paper on “Mentoring the Girl-Child” while Ameenu will speak on “Result-based Management and Performance Accountability in Football”.

On Saturday, Dr Uwa, engage the participants on “Bridging the Gap between Men and Women’s Football” and Sibanda again will talk on “Nigeria Women’s Football Landscape: Current Realities.”

Falode will speak on “NFF Women’s Football Strategy: Progress Towards Nigeria’s First Blueprint for Women’s Football” afer which Sibanda and Selhoko will speak on “Strategic Planning” and Ameenu takes a session on “Safeguarding”.

A total of 41 women’s football administrators in Nigeria will participate in the three-day event, including 20 from the Nigeria Women Football League, three from the State Football Associations (secretaries of Lagos, Yobe and Nasarawa States) and 15 NFF staff members.
