Abia Warriors head coach, Okey Emordi has rated his side’s readiness at 70 per cent for the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
Warriors just returned to their base in Umuahia after weeks of preseason tour of Calabar, Cross River State.
Emordi said the training tour was helpful as it enabled the side to know their strengths and weaknesses and compete in top grade friendly matches.
“We have got up to 70 per cent readiness for the new season.
“We are working round the clock to ensure we achieve the remaining 30 per cent in the coming weeks.
“We are confident of reaching the 100 per cent mark before the commencement of the top-flight.
“I’m happy with the level of discipline and dedication shown by the players and their prompt to response to a new coaching pattern.
While in Calabar played a series of friendly matches against various sides.
“We played two grade A friendly matches against Akwa United and FC IfeanyiUbah in Calabar.
“Now that we are back to our base we will continue on the path to ensure we put everything right before the season starts,” the former Enyimba and Enugu Rangers coach Supersport.com.
The Umuahia-based top-flight struggled last season to cement their spot in the elite league.
