Adejuwon wins Muyiwa Omisade birthday Golf kitty

Dayo Adejuwon of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), last weekend emerged winner of the Chief Muyiwa Omisade 70th birthday Golf kitty held in Ibadan.

The one-day kitty organised by IGC turned out to be a tournament as it attracted over 100 golfers.

Dayo, popularly known as ‘Dangote’, won with 77 Gross and 69 Net while Nigeria’s number one female golfer, Evelyn Oyome claimed the lady prize ahead of Alhaja Otolola Adesiyan, among others.

An elated Dayo thanked the sponsor and the club for giving them an avenue to compete and show what they can do with golf, just as he described the celebrant as a man of integrity.

Also, IGC Captain, Barrister Idowu Salami lauded the commitment of Chief Omisade towards the promotion of golf in the country.

“He’s an engineer who has impacted positively on the lives of so many people. Chief Omisade epitomises gentlemanliness, honesty, integrity, reliability, among other good virtues.

“In fact, his character motivated golfers from Ikoyi and Ikeja Golf Club to come to Ibadan and honour him despite the fact that this meet was tagged a kitty, but it’s a tournament because we have over 100 golfers who participated in the kitty.

“Today’s kitty looks like a belated birthday, Chief Omisade is a member of Ikoyi and Ikeja Golf Clubs where he held a birthday tourney in March, but we felt that as one of us he needed to be celebrated. It is a milestone, an achievement and everybody looks forward to, if one can achieve such landmark to join the sexagenarian club and we did not do anything, I think it’s not good enough,” Salami said.

Meanwhile, Chief Seye Omisore also described Omisade as a generous and honest person.

“Omisade is very popular in Lagos that is why you see people from Ikoyi and Ikeja Golf clubs invade Ibadan to honour him. Golf has been there for him even I as one of his twin brothers, it has been keeping us fit.”

In his remarks, Omisade thanked the participants for honouring him at the birthday kitty.

“I’m happy that I’m still playing golf, it means a lot to me, it improves my stamina and people that have not embrace it, it’s earlier they start because it’s a game of life,” he said.
