AFCON 2019: Nigeria land in Round of 16

Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Wednesday became the first country to qualify for the Round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, following a 1-0 win over Syli National of Guinea.

Defender Kenneth Omeruo’s 73rd minute’s goal off Moses Simon’s well-floated corner kick ensured Nigeria maintain tops in group B with maximum six points from two games.

Nigeria’s last group match holds on Sunday against Madagascar also at the Alexandria Stadium while the outcome of the match remains inconsequential to the Super Eagles.
