With a few hours to their first game against Guinea Bissau at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Sunday, the chairman, of FCT Football Association (FCT-FA), Adams Mouktar Mohammed, has urged the Super Eagles and the technical crew to see every game as a cup final saying it is by doing so that they can go all the way to the final and claim a fourth continental title.
Mohammed, in an exclusive interview with Sporting Tribune on Friday in Abuja, said football-loving Nigerians expect that with the calibre of talents that abound in the team, the boys should deliver the cup as a New Year gift for their compatriots.
“We as patriotic Nigerians always love our national team so we have high hopes and expectations, particularly in a big tournament like AFCON where African pride is at stake. With the talents in the team, football-loving Nigerians expect much from the boys and even winning the title.
“My feeling is a semi-final would be fair but ultimately we want the cup. It will not only lift the spirit of the nation but will be a perfect New Year gift for Nigerians,” the football administrator told Sporting Tribune.
