President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Benjamin Kalu are expected to be present at the stadium to support Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the crucial quarterfinal match against Angola later today.
The two countries will be playing at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Côte d’Ivoire.
The duo have already arrived in Ivory Coast to cheer the Super Eagles to victory as part of their support to the team.
According to the Personal Assistant to the Senate President, Mr Jackson Udom, “Both Senator Godswill Akpabio and Honourable Benjamin Kalu will be watching Nigerian and Angola match with principal officers of the House and Senate and members of Sport committees in the senate and Reps are coming.”
Earlier, Akpabio expressed optimism that Nigeria would triumph over Angola.
“Your opponents in the quarter-finals are also a strong side, but I strongly believe that with determination, the right tactics and teamwork, you will subdue them.
“I urge you not to be complacent but continue to be focused and resilient. We are behind you and all Nigerians are supporting you. Do not look back but go on and bring home the trophy,” Mr Akpabio stated.
The match is scheduled for 5pm Cote d’Ivoire time (6pm Nigeria time).
