Mascot Displayers Association of Nigeria (MDAN) has called on the Federal Government to come to the aid of its members in financing and carrying out its activities.
MDAN, under the leadership of Fapetu Gbenga, said just like the Super Eagles who bring joy to millions of Nigerians whenever they are involved in any international tournaments and are rewarded for their efforts, the association begged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to also extend such to it members.
According to Gbenga, MDAN said its members have been adding glamour to the all the national teams (male and female) whenever they are on national assignments and as such seek for presidential intervention.
“We have mobilised and transported our members to Cote d’Ivoire from Nigeria. We have also been transporting our members to match venues for each of the games (at AFCON).
“Things are very expensive here in Abidjan, our members have been spending their hard-earned money on food and logistics here.
“We therefore appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend financial gestures to our members as we keep on supporting Super Eagles of Nigeria at every international and national competitions,” Gbenga said.
Sporting Tribune reliably gathered that the Mascots are still stranded in Abidjan after the curtain has drawn on the 34th edition of the African football showpiece won by the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire who defeated the Super Eagles by two goals to one on Sunday.
