AFCON: Lagos council boss to thrill football fans to free drinks, comedy

A football enthusiast and Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira will be hosting football fans to free drinks and comedy.

The thrill, according to the council boss, which will be held at the Agricultural Training Centre Odo Olowu, Ijeshatedo, Lagos is to serve as a unifier among residents in the community.

He added that it is also aimed at availing football lovers a memorable viewing experience of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He stated further, “We have people of a diverse ethnic group in Itire-Ikate but despite the differences in tongues, there is one thing that unites everyone and that is football.

“So as Nigeria will be taking on South Africa today, our aim is to provide a pleasurable experience for all football lovers and also to use it as a platform to bring people of diverse backgrounds together at a viewing centre.

“This will enable friendly interactions while the match goes on. It will also promote social integration and even networking. For us, this is not only about promoting sports, it is also about the promotion of Unity, peace and socio-cultural integration.

“Also, it is an expression of support for the Super Eagles. We pray and hope to emerge victorious at the end of it all.”
