AFCON semi-final: BUA pledges $500,000 bonus to Super Eagles

The BUA chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has pledged a whopping $500,000 to the Super Eagles if they win the semi-final against Morocco, with an additional $50,000 for every goal scored.

If they go on to win the final, he’ll add another $1 million, plus $100,000 for each goal scored in the final. This is a huge boost for the team as they prepare for their semi-final clash.

Nigeria booked their semi-final spot with a convincing 2-0 win over Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech today.

The victory sets up a last-four clash against Morocco, who had defeated Cameroon in the quarter-final.

AFCON 2025: Super Eagles outclass Algeria to reach last four

The Eagles entered the quarter-final after a 4-0 win over Mozambique in the Round of 16, having scored 12 goals in four games — the tournament’s highest tally.

The Super Eagles had previously threatened to boycott training due to unpaid bonuses, but the Federal Government has assured them that all group-stage session bonuses have been released and are being processed.

The team’s next match is against Morocco on January 14, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
