The special charity competition to collect golf clubs and bags for Nigerian youngsters was the initiative of the president of ISGL, Jean-Paul Roumat, supported by AFGRAS ambassador in France, Carl Dubois, who also promised to do more for young Nigerian golfers.
AFGRAS took delivery of the golf clubs and bags through its chairman of Board of Trustees, Mr Bob Olukoya. Olukoya, on behalf of AFGRAS, also presented gifts to three of the best young golfers at Lacanau-Ocean.
Eighty-two golfers participated in the two-day competition in Bordeaux. Fifteen slots were reserved for Nigerian golfers to be part of the competition but only six of them were able to make it to France.
AFGRAS board chairman Olukoya said the clubs and bags would be committed into the hands of responsible individuals who would ensure their return every time they are booked for use by golfers.
Already, plans are in top gear to organize a similar charity competition for young Nigerian golfers next year in Rennes, France.
