Nigerian Customs Service, on Thursday evening, in Abuja defeated their Cameroonian counterparts, Mayo Kane Evolution (MKE) in three straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-22) to start on a strong footing at the ongoing African Women’s Volleyball Inter-Cub Championship holding at the package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
NCS took the first set 25-18 with quick movement and distribution of the ball around the court. The home team played some excellent defence on the backcourt to save a number of balls.
Sporting Tribune reports that the home team played seamlessly in the second set as they contested every point against their opponents. A number of hitting and serving mistakes from both teams as the Nigerian ladies took the last few points to win 25-17.
The crowd went wild in support for Customs. The support was even more of a boost for the Nigerians playing in front of their First Lady at some point and the Controller General throughout.
NCS in the third set scored early and led for the set, playing some smart points just as consistent recycling of the ball led to well-earned points winning the third set with a tight margin of 25-22 win.
The win no doubt boosted the morale of the Nigerian ladies just as they look forward to their next game with anticipation.
