Agoye targets 8 new players for 3SC

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan new manager, Coach Edith Agoye, has said he will need more players to strengthen his side ahead of the new Nigeria National League season.

Speaking with TribuneSport on Wednesday during their first training at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Agoye said he would need to add between six and eight players with the 20 players on the ground so as to blend before the kick-off of the NNL.

He said they were ready to work very hard in order to return the team to where it belongs.

The  former Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel player said “We retained 20 players from the players that prosecuted the NPFL last season and from those 20 players, we have 12 players already, I think that is a pass mark for the first day afterward, I will get in touch with other eight players who were not in training this morning to see why they couldn’t make it.

“But I give to them, by Saturday, we should have the complement of the whole team.

“We placed 20 players on transfer while we retained 20 but looking at the NNL, we don’t know how it will go, whether it would be a full season, depending on whatever it is that would determine the number of players we will be engaged for next season but we are thinking of the range of 25-28 players as a whole,” Agoye said.

Also, the new assistant coach named on Tuesday, Yinka Popoola, said he was happy to join the team as he was ready to make history with the Oluyole Warriors.

He said he was a privileged to work with the team as he was ready to give his best in making the team make a quick return to the elite league.

Popoola, who was named the Best Coach in Oyo State in 2015, disclosed that “This is a privilege I have been looking for and I thank 3SC and the management for the opportunity given to me to serve in this capacity as a member of the technical crew for next season of the Nigerian National League.

“The utmost aim of the technical crew is to promote the team to the premier league and if we want to take 3SC back to the premier league, we need to work hard as coaches and recruit the best legs for the team,” he said.

Some of the players who attended training on Wednesday are Kunle Olukokun, Seun Akinyemi, Sherif Sanda, Michael Omeru, Bode Daniel, Shittu Taiwo, Shile Ibrahim and Omololu Waheed.

The expected players are goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar, Osawe Alaba, Moses James, Ayobami Junior, Abayomi Adebayo, Sunday Faleye, Ajani Ibrahim and Opeyemi Adetoyi.
