French Women’s Ligue 1 side PSG have officially unveiled Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, on a two-year contract with an option for extension.
The Super Falcons captain joined PSG after leaving Spanish Iberdrola club Atlético Madrid Féminine at the end of last season, following the expiration of her contract.
Ajibade, who led Nigeria to victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), has already resumed training with her new teammates.
In a video, Ajibade is welcomed to the club and shown the facilities at the training complex by Super Falcons teammate Jennifer Echegini, who also plays for PSG.
The French side announced the arrival of Ajibade on their official social media platforms.
Along with several posts, a message to announce Ajibade’s arrival said, “Rasheedat Ajibade signs for Paris Saint-Germain until 2027.
“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the arrival of Nigerian striker who has joined the club on a deal that runs until 30th June 2027.”
Ajibade signed a two-year contract till 2027 and shut down speculation of a possible move to America.
Speaking to the PSG website, Ajibade expressed excitement at the move to PSG.
She said, “I’m deeply honoured to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe.
“This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and to inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere.”
Ajibade joins PSG after leading the Super Falcons of Nigeria to win the WAFCON and was named the best player at the tournament.
