A 37-man strong delegation of Al Masry FC of Egypt will arrive in Abuja today and train at the practice pitch of the National Stadium, Abuja, tomorrow morning before heading for Anambra State the same day to keep a date with FC Ifeanyi Ubah in a CAF Confederation Cup match billed for Sunday at the Ifeanyi Ubah international Stadium, Nnewi.
A source from the Egyptian embassy who confirmed the club’s arrival plans, said the Egyptian club would arrive at the Nnamdi Azikwe international airport at 7am today, and move to the Sheraton Hotels and Towers where the team will camp before proceeding to Nnewi tomorrow.
The Egyptian Embassy in Abuja have sent out emissaries to various television stations in Abuja as they intensify the search for the video tapes of matches involving FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
President of the Nnewi-based Nigeria Professional Football League side, Chief Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is aware of this desperation on the part of their opponents, but he is unperturbed.
He urged the people of Nnewi and beyond to come out in large numbers and support their darling team on Sunday.
“This is the first time in the history of this state that an Egyptian club is coming to play on our soil. We have the rear privilege of being part of history and we must all come out to support our darling club. We cannot afford to lose on home soil, so your support counts on Sunday,” Ubah said after watching the Anambra warriors beat Enugu Rangers 1-0 last Sunday in a match day six NPFL game.
