Amoo’s goal helps Confluence Queens beat Nasarawa Amazons

Confluence Queens defeated Nasarawa Amazons 1-0 in their first home game of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) game on Wednesday.

Nasarawa Amazons proved difficult from the kickoff,  putting the home side in a struggling state before ‎a strike from Bashira Amoo in the 68th minute handed coach Tenimu Nayashi’s ladies the vital victory.

Speaking at the end of the game, Confluence head coach, Nayashi admitted his side were poor in the first half but praised his team for putting up a strong character to secure  maximum points.

“Amazon are a very good side but with determination‎, my girls did very well and am proud of that.”

“I knew there were lapses in the midfield and if you can see, the substitution made the game okay. When I got there [dressing room] I let them know if we really want to get it, we must play from the midfield.”

“Immediately we came in, we made the substitution and as you could see, the substitution did not stay long, we came in and immediately made the substitution and after the substitution the game got balanced.”

Meanwhile, Confluence Queens will welcome Osun Babes ‎in their Week Three encounter in Lokoja on Saturday.
