Amusan qualifies for World Athletics Championship 100m final

World champion, Tobi Amusan, qualified for the final of the 100-meter Hurdle at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary on Wednesday.

The Nigerian athlete won the second semifinal with a time of 12.56 seconds to qualify for the final billed for Thursday evening.

Amusan recovered in time, recording 12.56 seconds to finish ahead of Dutch Nadine Visser and Jamaican Achkara Nungent, both of whom ran 12.60 seconds.

Despite having a slow start, Amusan, who was in lane 7, won the second semi-final with a time of 12:56 seconds, overtaking Ackera Nugent near the finish line after taking an early lead.

The current NCAA Champion, who finished in second place with a time of 12.60 seconds, was good for an automatic qualification to the final.

She holds the event’s world record and is attempting to retain the crown she won in Oregon last year.
