Ancelotti’s phone calls convinced me to stick with Napoli ―Hamsik

After numerous reports regarding a potential transfer to a Chinese club, Marek Hamsik looks ready to continue on as Napoli’s captain.

The midfielder spoke about his change of heart in a recent interview with Sky Sport:  “I stayed here after Ancelotti’s arrival. He called me multiple times when I was in Slovakia where he told me he wanted me to stay on the team. In the end I decided to stay, a decision that made him and I happy.

“We are working very well here in Dimaro, we are serene and we played a good match. Going to China would have certainly changed my life, I would have liked to start that journey but in the end I’m happy here at Napoli.”

Hamsik also spoke about his former manager who has recently started the next chapter of his career at Chelsea: “Sarri? We can’t forget everything we did with him, we thank him since he improved us.”
